Royal Oak police arrested a 38-year-old man for spray painting graffiti on a railroad overpass.

Police encountered Carl Oxley in the area of Farnum and Maple spray painting large murals on the sides of the overpass.

Oxley, however, says he's been walking by that bridge for years, and he says he's sick of the graffiti and decay, so he wanted to do something about it.

He says his painting of bunnies and little monsters isn't graffiti at all, it's an artistic mural and he believes it's something the community will be able to enjoy.

Oxley posted bond while detectives continue their investigation.

He could face felony charges if the damage amount exceeds $1,000.
