ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Royal Oak Police Department is investigating after a report of a man peeping into windows in the city and in Birmingham this week.

According to police, a woman called and said she observed a man looking into her neighbor's window on Wednesday around 9 p.m. in the 400 block of Gardenia Ave.

“It could be very upsetting, obviously. You don’t know what the person’s intent is.”

The caller's husband confronted the suspect, and he fled on a bicycle through the cemetery.

Officers set up a perimeter and a K9 tracked the suspect but lost the track.

The suspect is described as an unknown male with a large build wearing a dark hat and heavy coat.

“There wasn’t much of a description. It was just an unknown male wearing a heavy coat and a dark hat,” says Sgt. Rich Millard.

Later that evening, police say a suspect matching the same description was observed looking through windows in Birmingham.

Detectives from both agencies are working together on these incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Royal Oak Police Department, Criminal Investigation Division Lieutenant Albert Carter at (248)246-3456.
