State police say a man accused of shining a laser into a trooper's eyes has been charged with assault. Investigators say the defendant, Jonathan Rayner of Roseville faced a judge Sunday April 16th at the Detroit Detention center.
He was officially charged on two counts: Assault with a dangerous weapon, and resisting and obstructing a police officer.
The trooper was heading east on I-94 in Wayne County on April 14th. State police say the passenger of a westbound car shined the laser in the trooper's eyes. Police say troopers tracked down the car based on a description,arrested Rayner, and took the laser into custody.
