DUNDEE (WXYZ) — Police are looking for a man who posed as a Door Dash delivery person and lied about an injured hotel guest before stealing cash from the hotel.

Dundee police say the theft happened on Sunday just before midnight at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 402 Powell Dr.

Investigators say the suspect, who was posing as a Door Dash delivery person, entered the hotel and took the elevator to appear as if he were making a delivery. A few moments later, he returned to the lobby and told the deck clerk that a man was lying unconscious on the floor upstairs.

The clerk went to check on the guest. That's when the suspect went behind the lobby desk and took $275 from the cash drawer before fleeing. It was later discovered that the report of an unconscious man was false.

The suspect fled the scene in a gray or silver four-door sedan.
