(WXYZ) — A New Baltimore man received two years' probation and a one-year deferred sentence for intentionally ramming his boat into another one on Lake St. Clair.

Man accused of ramming boat on Lake St. Clair charged with OWI

Timothy Kennedy, 40, reportedly attacked a couple on a larger boat in Lake St. Clair in June 2019. His smaller boat is seen circling around the larger boat before coming around the back and ramming the boat from behind at full speed.

The couple on the large boat, who didn't want their identity revealed for fear of retribution, told WXYZ they did not know the man on the boat who attacked them and they were on their way back to the dock when they noticed him following them.

The couple was not injured during the assault but said there was extensive damage done to the boat.

Kennedy pleaded no contest to charges of malicious destruction of property over $20,000, assault with a dangerous weapon and operating while intoxicated.
