Man robs armored truck of around $100,000 at Clinton Township 7-Eleven

Clinton Township police say a man robbed an armored truck worker at a 7-Eleven on Harper Thursday afternoon.

Police say he ambushed the worker inside the 7-11 as the worker was about to fill the ATM. They say the robber took a sleeve full of cash, estimated to have $100,000 in it. The money was taken at gunpoint.

Investigators say the suspect also took the armored truck worker's gun.

Clinton Township police the crime spree began at a car wash at Harper and Murray. They say he robbed a customer of $15 and a cell phone. After that, investigators say the man went to the 7-11, robbed the armored truck worker, and ran off.

Later in the afternoon, police executed a search warrant on a home a few miles away. Sources say they recovered evidence.

Police arrested a 29 year-old Mt. Clemens resident. He's expected to be arraigned on Monday.

Garda, the company that operates the armored truck released the following statement:

We are relieved to report that our driver and messenger were not injured.  We are fully collaborating with the authorities in the investigation of this incident and cannot provide any other detail.
