WATERFORD TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) — A fatal house fire in Waterford Township has left a recently adopted dog that belonged to the deceased victim with severe injuries. Now the rescue the dog came from is asking for donations to cover the pup's medical bills.

The Home Fur-Ever Rescue is a no-kill shelter in Detroit.
Casper was adopted back in June, and belonged to a woman who was found dead in a house fire in Waterford Township Tuesday. Now police are investigating her death as a homicide.
Casper was rescued by firefighters from the home, but sustained several injuries from the fire. He had plastic stuck to his head, ulcers in his eyes and is on oxygen support due to smoke inhalation.
"We are so very grateful for the firefighters that were able to save Casper and made the decision to rush him to the vet," read a post from the organization on Facebook.
The rescue is asking for help with tax deductible medical funds for Casper's "mounting vet bills."
