Ferndale police are searching for two men who tried to carjack a couple at the Wendy's drive thru on Monday night.

According to police, the couple was at the Wendy's on Woodward Ave. around 11 p.m. when they were approached by the two men.

One man approached the passenger side and the other, holding a silver handgun, approached the driver's side.

The suspect on the driver's side pointed the gun at a female passenger and yelled "Don't move. Get out of the car."

Police say the driver, fearing for her life, hit the gas and sped away, believing she hit the suspect and knocked the gun from his hand.

According to police, they were last seen casually walking away.

The first suspect is described as a black male, 25-36 years old, about 5-feet tall with a mustache and goatee. He was wearing a red baseball hat, white t-shirt, gym shorts, tennis shoes and designer-type rose tinted glasses.

The second suspect is described as a black male, 18-25 years old, 5-feet-7 to 5-feet-9, tin build wearing a white t-shirt and gym shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 248-541-3650 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

Noting that the restaurant is not company owned, Wendy's has released the following statement about the robbery at their franchise:

This appears to be an isolated incident.  We are very grateful that no one involved in this incident was injured. We will continue to work with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.
