(WXYZ) — Metro Detroit-based company MaskMarket.com is donating tens of thousands of masks to Detroit teachers and students this week.

The company, based in Commerce Township, will donate 60,000 custom-made masks to the Detroit Public Schools Community District on Wednesday morning.

Owned by Fred and Mark Hajjar, who also founded UglyChristmasSweater.com, MaskMarket came about in May when the two saw a demand for face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. They were one of the first to offer customized face masks.

Since May, the company has also donated a specially-produced five-filter mask to a frontline worker for every mask sold. So far, they have donated about 90,000 masks.
