Gas prices in metro Detroit and Michigan have seen a sharp increase with prices the highest they've been since 2015.
According to AAA Michigan, gas prices in metro Detroit are up about eight cents to $2.86 per gallon. That's about 37 cents more than this time last year and the highest in the area since 2015.
AAA also reports that gas prices in the state are up 9 cents to about $2.88 per gallon, which is 34 cents more than this time last year and also the highest since 2015.
Michigan has the 12th-highest gas prices in the nation, and the 4th biggest change in the nation.
According to AAA, gas prices are more expensive across all of the Great Lakes states while gasoline inventories remain relatively stable in the area.
