Two Van Buren Township police officers helped deliver a baby boy at a gas station overnight.

According to Officer Mark, he and his partner, Officer Rini, helped deliver the boy at the BP Gas Station around 1:24 a.m. at Haggerty and North Service.

He told 7 Action News that the baby was delivered before any medical personnel were on scene and while the mother was in the passenger seat.

We're told that both the mother and the baby were transported to University of Michigan Hospital and are doing great.

"These are the special moments in your career you will never forget," he said. "These are the times that make this department shine when we can bring calm to and be part of such a joyous occasion."
