You’re sure to notice bone-chilling temps when you head outside this morning.
These are the kind of conditions that can kill crops, and certainly plants.
Reporter Matthew Smith was out at English Gardens this morning with details on how the recent cooler weather can affect your greenery.
A helpful tip: You don’t want to cover plants with plastic because that actually makes things worse. Instead try cloth or burlap. If you’re waking up this morning and you did cover those plants, remember to get them uncovered as soon as you can.
And it’s not just our potted plants, perennials and annuals are also at-risk when we see these temps.
This kind of weather becomes a much bigger problem for the whole agriculture industry. We’re already hearing from the west side of the state that the asparagus crop is being decimated by cold weather.
Keep in mind, this is a late season cold, so it doesn’t help.
