SANILAC COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 4-year-old boy who was reported missing in Sanilac County has been found safe.

The Sanilac County Sheriff's Office says that on Monday, July 6, the sheriff's office assisted DHS with the removal of five children from a residence on Aitken Road in Elk Township.

Elias Joseph Krajenke was not at the residence when DHS and deputies arrived. Elias's mother originally told deputies that she did not know of his whereabouts. Deputies from the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle and located the child with his mother. The boy was turned over to the Department of Health and Human Services.

“We are pleased with the efforts put into the investigation by our staff and appreciate the assistance from Lapeer County and area agencies, as well as, the public,” says the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office.
