The U.S. Marshals say they have captured a sex offender who had completely fallen off the grid.

Quincy Williams was taken into custody by Wayne State Police at Martin Luther King and Woodward in Detroit.

He was originally convicted of molesting a two-year-old little girl. He served time and was required to register as a sex offender, but instead he took off and the Marshals feared it was only a matter of time before he claimed his next victim.

“He got out of prison near the end of 2000 after that he is required to verify his address with the sex offender registry every three months,” Officer Stephanie Zarosly said. “He verified one time after he got out of prison and has never verified since.”

That was 16 years ago, and police had no known contact with Williams before his arrest..

With no address, no recent photo, no bank account or phone number the Marshals didn't have much in their hunt for the 54-year-old child molester other than the fears of what he’s capable of.

“He’s a convicted sex offender, this guy is the worst of the worst in my opinion, someone to mess with a little two-year-old infant baby is just sick and they need to go to jail,” Garcia said.

Which is why the U.S. Marshals had an entire Detroit team dedicated to finding non-compliant sex offenders.

“These registries are there for a reason, to keep these sex offenders under control,” Garcia said.  “Because chances are a lot of them do go back to their old ways.”

Quincy Williams is 6’0" tall, 160 pounds and known to use the alias Quincy Colbert.
