If you thought having the talk was awkward, try making condoms for a living with your mother.

Wine Condoms, an edgy bottle stopper, is the creation of entrepreneur Mitch Strahan and his 51-year-old mother Laura Bartlett.

“The cork was missing, so my neighbor sent me home with a half-drunk bottle of wine covered in Saran Wrap and rubber bands," she said. "My son and I joked, 'Looks like a condom, a Wine Condom! A few months later, he decided he'd actually try to make one."

The company, with the tongue-in-cheek tagline "Screw the Cork, Use a Condom," had a successful Kickstarter but still needed additional capital to take it further, so Bartlett sold her home and moved into an apartment.

According to a release, the Wine Condom has amassed over one million in sales. The company says the product is spill-proof, portable and reusable.

Each box includes 6 black wine stoppers and costs $15 and are sold at Amazon and Paper Source stores nationwide. They're also sold at www.winecondoms.com.
