According to a new report, airports in the United States will soon begin screening for Ebola by taking the temperatures of passengers.

A federal official with direct knowledge of the screenings told CNNthat airports in the U.S. will begin taking the temperatures of arriving passengers who have flight itineraries originating from West African countries where Ebola is concentrated.

The screenings will begin this weekend or next week, the source said.

This follows yesterday's announcement from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden that the CDC would soon implement new health screening procedures at U.S. airports.

The details of how exactly the screening will occur are still unclear. Details are being discussed by federal officials.

According to The Washington Post, the screening will occur at five key hubs: John F. Kennedy International Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, O’Hare International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.

Information from CNN and the CDC was used in this report.
