DETROIT (WXYZ) — Downtown Detroit is getting another hotel, this time, an upscale hotel that will include a rooftop bar, pool and more. Choice Hotels International announced on Thursday plans to open a Cambria Hotel.
The hotel will be located at 600 W. Lafayette Blvd. and feature 154 rooms, just a short drive or walk away from Campus Martius Park and several other locations downtown.
"Cambria's unique value proposition and overall performance is leading more and more developers to commit to multiple projects, further accelerating the brand's growth in prime locations across the United States," said Mark Shalala, vice president, franchise development, upscale brands, Choice Hotels. "The Detroit market has seen a surge in investment in downtown businesses, which has provided a jolt to local demand with occupancy and average daily rate steadily rising last year."
The hotel will include:
- Immersive, spa-style bathrooms with bluetooth mirrors
- Contemporary and sophisticated guestrooms, complete with modern fixtures, abundant lighting and plush bedding
- Rooftop bar
- A rooftop pool and spa-like service
- Celebrity chef curated dining featuring freshly made food, local craft beer on top, wine and specialty cocktails
- Multi-function meeting space and a formal ballroom
- State-of-the-art fitness centers
- Locally inspired designs
The company has partnered with Koucar Companies, which is based in Michigan and is one of the largest private real estate developers.
It's expected to open in 2020.
