(WXYZ) — Oakland County is reporting the first death from the flu this year in that county.
Officials say the flu is associated with the death of a 69-year-old man. No other details on his identity are being released.
Officials say there are fewer reports of the flu this year, when compared with previous years. However, officials are still stressing the need for vaccination.
“Vaccination is the most effective protection against the flu,” said Dr. Russell Faust, medical director for Oakland County. “Don’t wait to get the flu shot. Contact your doctor or nearest pharmacy for flu vaccine availability.”
Flu season officially began on October 1.
