(WXYZ) — The U.S. Marshals fugitive task force arrested a couple Friday wanted for the murder of a 4-year-old girl, Eliazar Ruiz.

Romaine Tolbert, 36, and Joanna Vega, 31, were scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 29 at the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas but they skipped out and an arrest warrant was issued, police say.

Based on leads, members of the U.S. Marshals Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team found and arrested the couple at a friend's home in Adrian, Michigan.

“The men and women from various law enforcement agencies who worked this case from day one refused to give up and swore a commitment in the name of Eliazar Ruiz," said US Marshal Pete Elliott. "Strong partnerships across the board enabled the officers to safely arrest these two desperate fugitives on the run.”

The couple will face extradition back to Ohio.
