Westland police arrested a suspect who is accused of stealing a large display of lottery tickets.
Investigators say it happened Monday at Westland Party Store in the 27000 block of Warren Road.
They believe the suspect attempted the same crime in Garden City approximately 15 minutes earlier.
Police tried to stop the suspect on the road, but he led them on a chase.
It ended when the suspect crashed his vehicle into a Detroit police squad car in the 9100 block of Winthrop.
The officer was not seriously injured.
The suspect is facing felony larceny and fleeing and eluding charges.
He is a 31-year-old resident of Redford Township.
His name will be released after he's arraigned.
