Police are investigating an attempted child luring incident that occurred Wednesday in Ypsilanti.

Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Westmoreland St. for a report of a man that attempted to lure children toward his vehicle.

Police say the suspect vehicle, a dark-colored newer model Honda CRV, slowly approached and stopped; the driver attempted to speak to two young children. When the children ignored his initial attempt at contact, he again reportedly attempted to gain their trust by pretending to know a parent of one of the children and calling them toward his stopped vehicle.

The children continued to ignore the suspect, police say, and were able to make it home where the incident was reported to their parents.
