The Farmington Hills Police Department is investigating a report of a suspicious person that approached a child on Oct. 15.
Police say around 4 p.m. in the area of Liberty Road and Middlebelt, a subdivision between Grand River and Nine Mile, a child reported they were approached by a man driving a white box utility van.
The man did not exit his vehicle but asked the child if they were cold, if they wanted him to call someone or if they wanted to enter his vehicle to get warm.
The child told police the driver was a heavyset white man wearing a black coat with short hair.
Police are actively investigating the report and officers are conducting increased patrols in the area.
