Poll finds Gov. Whitmer has 43 percent favorable rating, Trump has 40 percent

(WXYZ) — A new poll released by EPIC-MRA found that newly-elected Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has a 43 percent favorable rating while President Trump has a 40 percent favorable rating among Michiganders.

The poll, conducted between March 3, 2019 and March 7, 2019, surveyed 600 active and likely November 2020 voters.

According to the poll, 43 percent of people have a favorable view of Whitmer while 25 percent have an unfavorable view, with 28 percent of people undecided. When asked how she was doing so far as governor, 36 percent said it was positive with 40 percent negative.

As for the Michigan economy, 59 percent said it was positive with 38 percent negative, but in the negative, 32 percent of the 38 percent said it was "just fair."

For Trump, 40 percent have a favorable view and 55 percent have an unfavorable view with just five percent undecided. For the question of how he is doing as president, 40 percent said it was positive with 58 percent negative.

The poll also found that 44 percent of people think Michigan is headed in the right direction while 33 percent think it's going towards the wrong direction. As for the country, 52 percent say it's on the wrong track and 36 percent say the right direction.

When asked about about job that Trump is doing as president, 58 percent ave him a negative review and 40 percent a positive review. 49 percent also said that they would vote to replace Trump while 31 percent would vote to re-elect, and 16 percent voting for someone else.

38 percent of the people polled described themselves as a Conservative while 32 percent said they were Moderate and 22 percent Liberal. When breaking it down, 43 percent were Democrats, 42 percent Republicans and 12 percent Indpendents.
