Michigan State Police want to make sure unwanted or unused prescription drugs don’t fall into the wrong hands.

You can drop of any unwanted medications at all 29 MSP posts on Saturday, October 22nd from 10AM – 2PM as part of the National Prescription Drug “Take-Back” Day. No liquids, inhalers, patcher, or syringes will be accepted. The service is free and anonymous.

Excess medications can do more than just take up cabinet space. Studies show a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends. Disposing of unused medications by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash pose environmental hazards.

During a similar event in April, MSP posts collected a total of 1,189 pounds of prescription drugs.
