Moms now have a private and quiet place to breastfeed while at Detroit Metro Airport.
Officials announced Wednesday that nine nursing rooms have opened in the North Terminal, the McNamara Terminal and the Michael Berry Administration Building.
Each room has a chair, sink, counter, electrical outlets and other amenities.
“At Detroit Metropolitan Airport, we strive to make traveling a positive experience for our customers,” said Wayne County Airport Authority Interim CEO Chad Newton. “For years, we have wanted to provide nursing mothers with a private and secure place to care for their children. The challenge was finding the space. After an extensive reconstruction project in both terminals and our administration building, our nursing rooms are finally open.”
To use a nursing room, mothers should call airport staff for an access code to enter a room.
