Three community groups held a protest on Monday night seeking answers in the police shooting of an unarmed black man last month.

The National Action Network was one of the three groups protesting in Dearborn in hopes to shut down Michigan Avenue. They're demanding justice for Kevin Matthews.

We're told Matthews, 35, was being chased on foot by a Dearborn police officer. Matthews was wanted for a probation violation and theft.

According to police, Matthews was not armed, but they say there was a struggle with the Dearborn officer's gun. Matthews was shot several times by the officer two days before Christmas after the chase ended in Detroit.

The officer's name hasn't been released. He has been put on administrative leave while the shooting is under investigation by Detroit police.
