(WXYZ) — More than a year after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the QLINE is expected to resume operations in the late summer, spokesman Dan Lijana confirmed.

The streetcar is expected to be back up and running by late spring and open to the general public by late summer.

M-1 Rail canceled its contract with an operations management company; instead, the company will hire and train drivers, mechanics and technicians before opening up the streetcar to the general public.

Passenger service on the QLINE was suspended in March 2020 due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The streetcar launched in 2017, looping from downtown to New Center on Woodward Avenue.
