If you happen to be driving or walking near Campus Martius this week and you look up, you may see two artists hard at work.
Twin brothers Raoul and Davide Perre are adding a second giant mural to One Campus Martius. The former Compuware building currently features a colorful mural painted by Shepard Fairey last year.
The Perre brothers, best known as "How and Nosm," have started work on their own 184' by 60' mural on the east side of the building, facing Gratiot Avenue and Farmer Street.
They are using aerosol paint cans to create the mural entitled, Balancing Act.
"It deals with finding the right balance between different issues in life, if it's good or bad, either way," said David, in describing the installation.
"This is going to be a large character, huge person and he's standing on one foot, which represents the idea of balancing yourself," he said.
The artists, who were born in Spain and raised in Germany have lived in New York since 1999.
Their style came from tagging buildings and trains throughout Europe. They've been at work just a few days at the Detroit project after being commissioned by Bedrock Detroit, Meridian Health and Library Street Collective.
"We actually faster than I thought we were going to be, " said Raoul. "I think we're doing pretty good. I don't think we'll be done in another two days, but hopefully in another five or six days."
Raoul told 7 Action News he's happy with how the mural is taking shape.
"I'm always pleased to see our work finished and I'm proud of it," he said.
An exhibition of the brothers' art works will be featured starting Saturday at Library Street Collective in downtown Detroit.
