Police say a body has been discovered inside an abandoned home on Detroit’s west side.
Police say they are having a difficult time identifying the remains.
The home caught fire twice in the past week. When fire fighters arrived to the scene, we’re told they did not see a body.
Because of the fire damage, the home on Hecla Street - off West Grand Blvd. and the Lodge Freeway - is too dangerous to enter.
Neighbors are calling on the city to tear down vacant homes in the neighborhood, fearing they man be set on fire and more bodies may be discovered.
They say they complained to the city about the home where the body was discovered months ago - the first time it was set on fire.
Police brought in an excavator to the scene. We’re told the body is in the basement to the home.
Police say it was far too dangerous to go inside to remove the body. So the house was demolished. It took about an hour.
We’re also told the body is too decomposed to know the age or gender at this time.
