Stuart Lewis sat in a Wayne County courtroom yesterday. while Detroit Police Chief James Craig testified he is a danger to the Detroit police force.
After all, he is accused of spray painting a death threat towards the chief and DPD officers months ago on the side of a building. He faced charges of terrorism.
But Monday, Judge Deborah Langston tossed it out. Saying there was no evidence of intent.
“I believe the threats were real,” Chief Craig said in a Tuesday news conference.
“What message is Judge Langston sending,” he said, implying her decision shows those who make threats will not see real consequences.
“This has a way of empowering suspects who shoot at police officers.”
Lewis was bound over on the other charges and must wear a GPS monitor. But the chief is still concerned for his officers’ safety around Lewis.
