It was a horrifying sight on the Detroit River near Chene Park on Wednesday night.
A decomposing body was spotted by people nearby.
"I was just down here exercising there was just so much commotion I just followed the crowd and as I followed, I just seen the body floating,” said Ashlee Sims.
Sims, along with her mother and sister were expecting to get in a work out and enjoy the river Wednesday night, but instead they saw the body floating by. Sims, who shot video she shared with 7 Action News, said it seemed like watching an episode of a crime show.
"I'd never seen a dead body before, so I mean it was shocking,” said Sims.
"I'm speechless, I've never seen nothing like that in my life,” said Aisha Sims, Ashlee’s mother.
The Coast Guard and the Detroit Marine Police assisted in pulling the body from the river.
It’s unclear what happened to the victim at this point, but the investigation is underway now.
It will be up the the medical examiner to determine the official cause of death.
