The Detroit Fire Department responded to 26 fires on the second night of Angels' Night, the city announced Monday.

In all, there have been 40 fires after the first two nights of the three-night campaign. That's up from 28 fires last year. It is still on track for the second lowest number of fires on record.

Of the 26 fires reported, 20 were structure fires and six of those were deemed suspicious. There were also two garage fires and four trash fires.

“Over the course of the first two days of our patrols, what we have seen so far is not much different from our success last year,” said Fire Commissioner Eric Jones. “The efforts of volunteers continues to make a difference and we know they will be out again tonight as children celebrate Halloween.”

During the first night, the department responded to 14 fires.
