Detroit Public Library unveils newly renovated Wilder Branch

The Detroit Public Library (DPL) is launching a grand re-opening and ribbon-cutting celebration event for the newly renovated Wilder Branch Library located at 7140 E. Seven Mile Rd. near Van Dyke. The ceremony is set to begin at 2 p.m.

Renovations to the 11,000+ square foot facility include: new flooring and furniture; updated lighting; and new computers for public use.

The Wilder Branch Library is a popular community meeting center and will be open for public service on Wednesdays, Noon - 8:00 p.m. and Thursdays & Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. The branch offers a wide range of services and programs to help improve the quality of life for the neighborhood, including free computer classes, job readiness services, access to the Library's online resources, enrichment programs for children and much more.

The Wilder Branch, which opened its current location on February 6, 1967, is named after Laura Ingalls Wilder, author of many children's stories of pioneer life.
