We’re learning disturbing new details about the murder of a 91-year-old man. Testimony is revealing just how awful his final moments alive may have been.

A doctor told the judge today that accelerant was found inside the stomach of Paul Monchnik.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old George Stewart IV murdered the retired TV repairman back in November. Monchnik was beaten and set on fire in his Detroit home.

Stewart had just moved in with his grandparents, who lived next door to Monchnik.

An assistant Wayne County Medical Examiner told a judge that he discovered about one-fifth of a cup of some type of accelerant inside the elderly man’s stomach. He said Monchnik may have been forced to drink the accelerant or it may have been forced into his throat.

Members of Stewart’s family called police when they recognized his image from surveillance cameras at a nearby gas station – where he purchased gasoline the night of the murder.

The judge did find there’s enough evidence to send the murder case to trial.

George Stewart IV will be back in court later this month.
