DETROIT (WXYZ) — We're nearing the end of an era for the former home of the Detroit Red Wings
The demolition of Joe Louis Arena has entered it's final phase, nearly 40 years after the building entered the Detroit skyline.
Chopper 7 flew over what's left of The Joe today, as crews worked to lower an 800 ton steel truss.
Demolition is expected to be completed in June.
