A Detroit family has been left devastated, after discovering their loved one's body on Detroit's west side -- dead from an apparent beating.

Police say the man --- identified by the family as 25 year old, Ahmed Alakoubi--- was found right off of Southfield freeway, with obvious trauma to the body.

Police pronounced him dead on the scene. Channel 7 reached out to the family, and while they declined an on camera interview, they told us they were with him playing dominoes with him just three hours before his body was found.

At 3am Monday morning, the family told Channel 7, Alakoubi left the family gathering to take his brother home. He dropped him off but reportedly continued driving to an unknown location.

After he didn't appear, the family said they went out looking for him and tragically found him in the alley, off Southfield and Paul.

On Tuesday, police reported finding the man's car, abandoned on the city's east side.

Inside, they reportedly discovered a large amount of blood, leading them to believe Alakoubi was killed inside his car before being left in the alley.

Police are working to determine how the crime happened. At this point they have no leads on suspects. Anyone who has any information is urged to contact DPD immediately.
