A day after they said toxicology tests could not help determine how she died, the Wayne County Medical Examiner has ruled the death of 24-year-old Kajavia Globe a homicide.
And a murder is something Kajavia's family says they knew her death was from the moment her body was found shoved in a garbage can behind a vacant house.
Kajavia's family suspects an ex-boyfriend, who was at the center of a love triangle that also involved Kajavia, is behind her disappearance and death.
The man lived on the same street where Kajavia's body was found three days after she disappeared.
An aunt saw Kajavia the afternoon of December 11, 2015, but no one knows what happened to her after that.
Detroit Police later revealed that a man, wearing a Halloween mask, was seen on surveillance video at an ATM withdrawing cash out of her account that same day. He was also driving her car.
Kajavia's vehicle was found abandoned three days later on the morning of December 14. And by early evening that same day, someone had discovered the body of the 24-year-old behind the abandoned house on Fielding near Seven Mile Road in northwest Detroit.
Kajavia's nails were broken off. The weave she had just sewn into her hair the morning of her disappearance had been ripped out.
Lashanda Globe, Kajavia's mother, says the lack of communication with homicide investigators since her daughter's body was found has been so frustrating that she recently filed a complaint.
