Posted

A week devoted to entrepreneurship -- Motor City-style -- is starting up.

The first Detroit Startup Week launches Monday with roughly 100 events and 2,500 participants. The free activities are geared toward startup companies, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts seeking to boost business skills, networks and knowledge of opportunities in and around Detroit.

Session topics include technology, mobility, music, neighborhood collaboration and social entrepreneurship. Events take place across the city.

Ford Motor Co. Executive Chairman Bill Ford is among the speakers. He says Ford was a startup a century ago and now it's "proud to support the next generation of entrepreneurs."

JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO Jamie Dimon and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan plan to talk Tuesday about the role of small businesses in Detroit's turnaround.
