A Detroit woman is asking for help after she says part of a nearby vacant home literally crashed through her kitchen.
Monqiue Cooper has lived on Lamont St. for nearly 50 years and she says she has always been proud to call herself a Detroiter.
She said the city of Detroit has failed to help her after pieces of the vacant home next door crashed through her kitchen last Wednesday. She has had to board up the giant hole.
The biggest damage came from a large chimney that is now in pieces.
7 Action News reached out to the city to ask why vacant homes are both sides are still standing despite being slated for demolition.
A spokesperson tells us this is something they will address immediately. We'll stay on top of this to make sure it happens.
