After hearing on 7 Action News, that students in Detroit Public Schools do not always have the basic school supplies they need, a group of Voyager Elementary School fifth grade students decided to help out.
A group of six students planned a school supply drive to benefit students in Detroit Public Schools.
The students developed a flyer, posters and helped write the press release to help spread the word about their school supply drive.
7 Action News spoke to several behind the effort.
“I thought about how lucky we were,” said Sean Emberson.
“I just wanted everybody to have a nice school and make learning interesting,” said Riley Rafferty.
“The bins are so full now, they are overflowing,” said Jaidah Davis.
Their drive runs until March 4.
