Three boaters were rescued after their boat capsized on Lake St. Clair.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department says five boaters from Ohio were visiting the lake Thursday when one of their two boats ran out of gas.

As the boat was drifting, the three men aboard tried switching to a reserve tank.

Authorities say high wind and other factors caused the boat to capsize.

The three men were hanging on to the boat and were not wearing life jackets, even though life jackets were on the boat.

The other boat carrying two men saw them boaters in distress and got them out of the water safely.

No one was injured.
