Clay Township police now say a woman they found inside a home after an apparent home invasion made the whole thing up.
Police found the woman around 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 9300 block of Nook Rd., which is just northwest of Algonac.
Officers had received a call for a welfare check, and when they arrived, they found the woman on the floor tied up.
The woman also claimed to have been assaulted during the home invasion.
She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries in stable condition.
Police are now saying that she confessed to making the whole thing up. They have not yet said if she will face charges.
