A middle school student’s website is at the center of a Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Investigation. It brought deputies to Powell Middle School in Washington Township around 10 a.m.

Investigators say a parent had told the school about a website created by a student. It was set up so people could leave comments. Comments left on the site are what raised concerns.

Some commentors listed names of people that they would like to see harmed. The list included the names of celebrities, poets, politicians, and even other students.

Seven Action News spoke to one mom who came to the school after she heard about the investigation.

“They aren’t communicating to us very well we got an email at 12:55. I came and got my daughter. I feel she is safer with me,” said Laurie Tomaszewski.

Investigators say it isn’t known whether those comments amount to valid threats or not. The school was not put on lockdown. The comments were left sometime this school year, but investigators did not say when.

7 Action News reached out to the superintendent for comment, but got no response.

Investigators at the sheriff’s office say the student who created the website is cooperating, but that child is not believed at this time to have written the posts that some see as possible threats.
