Nearly 60 people gathered at the house of a friend of Stephen McAfee Wednesday night in Macomb.
They told stories about the teenager known for his compassion, music, and art. They held candles, still in shock of what happened last week.
Investigators were led to two shallow graves in Macomb County, where they found the body parts of McAfee.
The former student at the Arts Academy in the Woods had been missing for more than a year.
McAfee's childhood friend 19-year-old Andrew Fiacco and Fiacco's 18-year-old ex-girlfriend Eevette Macdonald are accused of the heinous crime.
Investigators say Fiacco shot and killed McAfee, before chopping his body in half, and burying him in two remote areas in Macomb County.
Nearly a year later, Fiacco showed authorities last week where they could find the two shallow graves.
Macdonald is accused of also burying his remains and lying to investigators.
McAfee's friend Samantha Hall told us, "Physically sick. I cried for days."
She doesn't understand how someone McAfee trusted and called a great friend could allegedly shoot him several times, and take his life in such a brutal way.
Friends also brought balloons and signed cards.
