Local dealership helps mom scammed online

A single mother of five battling cancer was scammed out of $2,000 online after trying to buy a car.

Less than an hour after our story aired a local dealership called and stepped up in a big way.

D&D All American Dealership in Warren is giving Dawn a 2008 Dodge Caravan.

We interviewed Dawn last week, after she says someone online convinced her to give them $2,000 in pre-paid gift cards. The single mom of five, who's battling ovarian cancer, thought she was buying a car she desperately needed to take her kids to school and get to doctor appointments.

Within minutes of our story airing, the dealership called, wanting to do a good deed. They even showed up at her home and drove her to their lot.

And after some paperwork and a few signatures, it was a done deal.

Now Dawn is back on the road to recovery and taking care of her family.

D&D All American not only gave Dawn that van, but a license plate, registration and temporary insurance.

Dawn says she's so happy now that she can go to doctor's appointments and take her kids to school.
