Amy Barbieri tells 7 Action News her 10-year-old daughter is traumatized after being tossed into the Clinton River Wednesday night.
Star Dulaney can't swim, and was actually trapped underneath a dock before her 14-year-old friend jumped to her rescue.
Barbieri says, "I was worried for her life. I told her she could have been killed. It's no joke. She can't swim."
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office says a stranger, 48-year-old Michael Smoger, threw her in the river. He's now facing a four-year felony assault charge.
They believe he was drunk when he struck.
We're told he grabbed her from the waist while she was fishing with friends, and tossed her into the water.
Nearby witness Marcus Baldwin told us his "father instincts" kicked in, and he couldn't hold back.
Baldwin says, "I went down there and slapped him, slapped him unconscious, and then I stomped on his head three times."
