Warren Police are investigating after a shooting at a gas station in Warren.

It happened at the Marathon Station near 12 Mile and Van Dyke around 4:00 Friday morning.

According to Warren Police, a man in a Dodge Challenger was just getting off work, when he parked his car between the pumps while it was unlocked and still running.  Before he could even get inside, police said, another man jumped into the vehicle.  The owner fired a shot and the car crashed into a pole in the parking lot.

Police said the owner approached the car, and may have fired another shot, and the would-be car thief jumped out and ran away from the scene.

Police tracked him down at a nearby apartment complex and he is in the hospital in stable condition with a gun shot wound to the neck.

Right now police are reviewing surveillance video.  Investigators said the man in the hospital will likely face a charge and they are still reviewing the case and if there will be any penalties for the owner of the car.
