When a semi truck tipped over and crushed a car on Mound Road near I-696 Monday afternoon, not many people may have thought the car's driver, 55-year-old Gary Sanders, would survive.

But, while pinned on the floor of his crushed vehicle, we're told Sanders was able to communicate with Warren firefighters and it was their training that paid off.

The dramatic 911 calls poured in as some people witnessed the crash.

Warren Police are investigating the cause of the crash and they tell 7 Action News that it appears the semi's load of metal parts was not secured in the trailer.

The load shifted, causing the trailer to tip over onto Sanders who was alone in his vehicle.

Sanders remains hospitalized in good condition.
