Police search for armed robber in Monroe County

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is asking for your help to identify the suspect in an armed robbery early Saturday morning.

According to the Sheriff's office, it happened around 4:04 a.m. on Saturday at the Marathon Gas Station on Newport Rd. in Berlin Township.

Deputies say the man walked into the gas station and went to the cashier to buy something. When the cashier was completing the sale, the man pulled out a gun and demanded money.

He then fled the store on foot with an undetermined amount of money and possibly got into a red or maroon Ford Explorer or similar SUV and headed eastbound in Newport Rd. toward I-75.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 30 years old and about 5-feet-8-inches tall. He had a medium build, blonde hair and blue eyes. He was also wearing a hooded camouflage jacket and dark pants.
