19-year-old from Tennessee killed, 3 others shot in Pontiac

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a 19-year-old woman from Memphis, Tenn. was shot and killed and three others were shot on Friday night in Pontiac.

According to deputies, it happened around 11:09 p.m. in the 70 block of Thorpe St. near M-59. They responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the area.

When they arrived, they found the 19-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. She was taken to the hospital in a patrol car instead of waiting for EMS. She was later identified as Aniya Edwards.

A 19-year-old man, 18-year-old man and 23-year-old man were also shot in the incident.

While searching the area, deputies found a car that was hit with multiple bullets and found multiple shell casings. Deputies say the shooters were all wearing masks, and they recovered multiple shell casings at the scene.

They are asking for anyone with information to come forward, and are offering a reward. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
